Position Overview
HLC Fabrication is seeking a skilled and motivated Steel Fabricator to join our team. In this role, you will interpret blueprints, prepare materials, and assemble structural steel components with precision and craftsmanship. This position involves working with a variety of tools, machinery, and techniques to produce high-quality products for industrial and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read, and analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to determine material and process requirements.
- Material Preparation: Cut, shape, and prepare steel components using tools like saws, shears, torches, and grinders.
- Assembly: Accurately assemble steel parts using welding, bolting, or riveting methods to ensure alignment and structural integrity.
- Welding: Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, or other welding techniques to fabricate and repair metal structures.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet design specifications, quality standards, and tolerances.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain fabrication equipment such as CNC machines, press brakes, and plasma cutters.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to OSHA regulations and workplace safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE.
- Documentation: Record material usage, maintain logs, and report discrepancies to supervisors.
- Team Collaboration: Partner with fabricators, welders, and project managers to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in steel fabrication or related trade field.
- Skills: Proficient in welding, cutting, and shaping steel; familiarity with fabrication tools and machinery.
- Blueprint Reading: Competence in reading and interpreting engineering and shop drawings.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in industrial environments.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification: Welding Certification (AWS or CWB) or trade school training preferred.
- Attention to Detail: A strong commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety standards and practices.
Preferred Skills
- Experience operating CNC Machinery or Advanced Fabrication Tools
- Knowledge or structural Steel Codes and Standards (e.g., AISC, AWS)
- Certification in Forklift or Overhead Crane Operation.
- Experience in Custom Fabrication or Complex Assembly Projects.
